Francesco Saverio Duan Jongkunt XIV. Leó pápa június 15-én nevezte ki a Belső‑Mongólia autonóm régióbeli bamengi egyházmegye koadjutor püspökévé, a Szentszék és a Kínai Népköztársaság közötti ideiglenes megállapodás keretében. Július 29-én koadjutor püspökké szentelték.
