Győző Somogyi, who died at the age of 84, was a Kossuth and Mihály Munkácsy prize-winning painter, the nation's artist, a regular member of the MMA, who in his art presented Hungarian historical turning points, religious and everyday life with the markedly individual formal language and consistently figurative tools of fine art.
