Így múlik el Frankfurt dicsősége – a Commerzbank felvásárlása után
Egyre több jel utal arra, hogy a Commerzbankért folytatott küzdelem sorsa lényegében már eldőlt: a frankfurti székhelyű hitelintézet a belátható jövőben elveszíti függetlenségét és beolvad az olasz Unicredit bankcsoportba – annak ellenére, hogy a bank menedzsmentje hevesen védekezik az ellenségesnek tartott felvásárlás ellen, a részvények 12 százalékát birtokló német szövetségi kormány pedig eddig kiállt a bank önállóságának megőrzése mellett. Az UniCredit azonban nem hagyta magát eltántorítani a Berlinből érkező intő szavaktól, hiszen – a 2005-ben felvásárolt müncheni székhelyű HypoVereinsbank révén – már több mint húsz éve sikeresen jelen van a német bankpiacon. A milánói bank jelenleg a Commerzbank részvényeinek már legalább a 38 százalékát birtokolja, s a felügyeleti hatóság zöld jelzését követően aligha kétséges, hogy megszerzi magának a frankfurti bankot. A nagy kérdés ezért ma már inkább az, hogy a felvásárlás után rögtön fuzionál-e a HypoVereinsbank és a Commerzbank, és ha igen, akkor München vagy Frankfurt lesz-e az egyesített leánybank székhelye.
