A klímaválság valójában a piac kudarcának is tekinthető?

A klímaváltozásról szóló vita gyakran két véglet között mozog: az egyik nézet szerint fel kell forgatni a meglévő társadalmi-gazdasági rendet, a másik szerint pedig nem kell csinálni semmit. A kettő között azonban létezhet egy harmadik út. A klímaválság ugyanis mindenekelőtt gazdasági probléma is: egy korábban bőségesnek tekintett erőforrás, a légkör szén-dioxid-elnyelő kapacitása szűkössé vált, miközben ennek költségét a piac továbbra sem jeleníti meg megfelelően az árakban. Ha valóban kezelni akarjuk a felmelegedést, nem feltétlenül a piacgazdaságot kell meghaladni, hanem annak hibás ösztönzőit kell kijavítani.
