A ködös időjárás az autósok számára az egyik legveszélyesebb közlekedési helyzetet teremti, mivel a látótávolság hirtelen és drasztikusan csökkenhet. Ilyenkor a megfelelő világítás használata kulcsfontosságú, hogy a vezetők biztonságosan közlekedhessenek. A ködlámpák és a hátsó ködlámpák alkalmazása szigorú szabályokhoz kötött, a helytelen használat más közlekedők veszélyeztetéséhez is vezethet.
