Május 7-én délelőtt a Szentatya a Vatikáni Könyvkiadó vezetőit és munkatársait fogadta a vatikáni Apostoli Palotában, a Konzisztóriumi teremben. A találkozóra a Vatikáni Könyvkiadó századik évfordulója adott alkalmat. Beszédében a pápa a könyvolvasás fontosságát hangsúlyozta: a könyv „alkalom a gondolkodásra”, „alkalom a találkozásra”, és „alkalom Krisztus hirdetésére”.
